It’s never too early to harness the power of reading.
It’s never too early to harness the power of reading. INMED’s Moms and Babies class encourages mothers of babies and toddlers to set aside time each day to read together. “It doesn’t matter how small the baby, the act of reading is so important to social, emotional and intellectual development,” says Nora Lobos, a Family Support Worker at INMED’s Family and Youth Opportunity Center.
A recent study by researchers at the University of Kansas found that children whose parents don’t read aloud to them came out worst in language tests, and by age two lagged behind their contemporaries by up to six months. This early learning gap also led to academic deficits for years to come.
We welcome donations of bilingual books for our babies and after-school students. Check out our Amazon Wish List for some ideas and give the gift of reading to our kids! https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/37IH0LBES0QN2/ref=cm_sw_su_w
