Child Abuse is Preventable
For yet another year, Loudoun continues to be among the wealthiest, healthiest and happiest counties in the nation. Business is booming, our schools are outstanding and life is good … but not for all of us.
According to Loudoun County’s own statistics, the number of valid complaints of child abuse and neglect has dramatically increased each year. CPS caseworkers have the highest caseloads in Northern Virginia, and cases are becoming more complex due to extreme domestic violence, mental illness, substance abuse and child custody battles in addition to child abuse and neglect and child sex trafficking.
When you consider these statistics, life in Loudoun is pretty grim for many of our neighbors. But there is hope. For the past 23 years, INMED has been working alongside Prevent Child Abuse Virginia, Prevent Child Abuse Virginia, our local CPS, and the families we serve to get to the root causes before they become crises. Our accredited Healthy Families Loudoun program works to prevent child abuse and neglect, beginning in pregnancy or birth, and reaching families and their children at the most vulnerable time in their lives.
