Volunteers Make a Difference

A BIG shout out to volunteer Noelle Harp, a software engineer from Booz Allen Hamilton, who helps our kids learn to think creatively, reason systematically, work collaboratively and build essential skills for life after school and at Saturday STEAM Club. Picture here, she’s helping one of our STEAM Club kids navigate interactive stories and games on Scratch, a free platform by MIT Media Lab. Check it out:  https://scratch.mit.edu/

We need more volunteers for our after-school and Saturday programs! Contact Yahaira Hanon at yhanon@imed.org for details.

Thank you VDOT

A BIG THANK YOU to VDOT (NOVA District) for donating to INMED’s Opportunity Center. Programs Director Maria Vasquez recently visited its Fairfax office, where she was welcomed by the staff of the Bridge Department, led by Engineer Gary Runco. His team put together an online football fundraiser on our behalf. We are grateful for the support! Learn more about this great group of folks at http://www.virginiadot.org/about/nova_quick.asp

Thank you Inferior Nerve

Look what arrived at the Opportunity Center on Friday! More than a dozen adult coats, 12 kid coats, hats/gloves/scarfs and 49 pieces of clothing (sweaters, shirts, jeans). Thanks to Eboni’s coat and clothing drive, INMED kids and families will be warm for the cold winter months. THANK YOU, EBONI! Check out Inferior Nerve on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/inferior-nerve/ This heart-felt donation was courtesy of Eboni Cotton, founder and executive director of Inferior Nerve, a non-profit organization in the Washington DC area, serving people in need by providing tools and resources that give hope and absolute transformation.
