FREE Saturday Cooking Class

Students in INMED’s FREE Saturday cooking class at the Family & Youth Opportunity Center are exploring the culinary arts and learning skills for becoming self-sufficient. Special thanks to community partner Ekklesia USA for providing instructors for this class. Students pictured here cooked a Latin American favorite called salchispaguetty (spaghetti with hot dog), which they proudly served to their parents. Full STEAM Ahead

Children enrolled in INMED’s FREE guitar class on Saturday are learning arts appreciation, the “A” in INMED’s expanded focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) in our programs at the Family & Youth Opportunity Center in Sterling, VA. INMED uses participatory education to help low-income children, youth and families to develop and strengthen skills to be workforce competitive. Children in our guitar class are not only discovering the joy of music, but are developing vital skills that strengthen math acumen, critical thinking and creativity.

Special thanks to volunteer guitar instructor Saarthak Maheshwari for sharing his talent with our kids. If you have a skill to share, please consider offering a workshop to our program participants at the Family & Youth Opportunity Center. More information is available by contacting Maria Vasquez at If your company or organization would like to support our programs financially, please contact Cecilia Capece at Learn more about our programs at
